This cosplay group has been my pet project since the third season premiere- Crystal Empire Mane Six!

Twilight, Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash's dresses are all Greek chitons- (Essentially togas for women) and were incredibly simple to make. You literally just take a length of fabric (we opted for crinkled taffeta, because of it's silky feel and almost faceted look), pin it over one or both shoulders, depending on personal preference, then tie it closed around the waist or under the breast. We did cheat a little and use safety pins as well, to insure against wardrobe malfunction.
Pinkie Pie chose to sew a greekish-looking dress instead, which in my opinion made things needlessly complicated, but it was her decision...

The cutie mark pins were made by me, cast in resin, and let me tell you those little bastards were the bane of my existence for awhile. I ended up recasting them three times :no:

I styled the wigs for Rarity, Twilight, and Applejack, which was a really interesting new experience. I was pretty happy with how they came out. The little tiaras the unicorns are wearing were made by Robin, our Fluttershy, who also made wrist bracers for the Earth ponies and anklets for the pegasi. I believe she used craft foam.

:star:FUN FACT:star: The RD and AJ were actually last minute stand-ins- Our Applejack, Rina-chan (the wildly talented fledgling voice actor and my co-emcee for EQLA) couldn't make it to the con that day and our Dash just kind of flaked on us. Fortunately, my roommate and I had basically done the entire costume for the both of them- we dressed up our friend Milly as AJ and literally kidnapped a random Dash cosplayer we found at the con so we could at least do a little photoshoot.

When i look at this, it makes me think that the mane six could be an elaborate group of trolls! they would catch you off guard and next thing you know, ur in a practical joke! really cool tho! ^.^
